Upon course completion students will have the ability to define general industry terms found in the OSHA General Industry Standards, identify hazards which occur in general industry, locate and determine appropriate OSHA General Industry Standards, policies, and procedures, and describe the use of OSHA General Industry Standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program.

OSHA Standards for General Industry 10-hour course is an introductory course for workers to understand the basics of workplace safety, covering:

This course is suitable for entry-level workers in construction and general industries.

OSHA Standards for General Industry 30-hour course is more comprehensive and is tailored for supervisors, managers, or workers with some safety responsibility. It delves deeper into specific hazards and methods to prevent them, covering:

  • Detailed discussions on safety and health topics particular to the industry.

  • Training on the identification, prediction, avoidance, and prevention of hazards.

  • Information on rights of workers and responsibilities of employers.

  • Walking and Working Surfaces (1 hour)—including fall protection

  • Hazard Communication (1 hour)
 
Elective Topics (10 Hours)
